FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK… Happy Divine Mercy Sunday! This Solemnity of Divine Mercy
Sunday was established by Saint John Paul II in order to remind humanity about the quintessential reason for
Jesus’ death, resurrection and ascension…namely, to be reconciled with our Heavenly Father. In order to fulfill
the prerequisites for receiving a plenary indulgence on this Solemnity of Divine Mercy, you are cordially invited to
celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation during an already established confession time or by appointment.
Plenary Indulgence – If you pray for the intentions of Pope Francis, make a good confession eight days
before or after the feast and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of Divine Mercy, you will receive a Plenary
Indulgence, that is to say all temporal punishment due to sin is omitted. Thus, if a person dies after the reception
of the plenary indulgence and prior to committing a sin, the person will go straight to heaven.
Lawn Maintenance Team – I am looking for some committed men and women who would like to join our
Lawn Maintenance Team. By so doing, we will keep our grounds beautifully kept, and we will show our local
community how to be true Christian disciples by giving of our Time and Talent. If we continue to do this well,
we will continue to have a church that we are proud of, because we will make it known that we not only nominally
belong to this church, but that we put our faith into practice. If you are interested in assisting me with this
commitment, please contact Tom Hunter, 580-334-4550, Matt Thompson, 580-273-3061, or me, 256-5305,
extension 104.
Vacation – I will be on vacation from April 12-30, and there will be some priests who will come during my
absence to assist me with the weekend Mass schedule. If there are any emergencies, please contact Fr. Chris. In
the meantime, please know that you are in my prayers and Masses even while on vacation.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Fr. Joe
